[weihsien_camp] Re: Weihsein Celebration

Hello everyone,

Could anyone help me? My niece and I are busy gathering my old China memories and also an impression of my home town then, Tientsin. Somehow I seem te recall that Holl & Holtz on Victoria Road and Moyler & Powell were attractive shops where my mother bought textiles and other goods. But when she looked up these names on the internet, she found 2 banks with these names on the Bund and no stores. Am I wrong? Waiting for your comments, Anne de Jongh

Subject: Recent trip to Weifang

Hi,

I just wanted to say I found your website very valuable when I planned a recent trip to Weifang. I was travelling with a friend who's mother, aunty and grandparents were in the camp. It was great to be able to know what we were looking for. The area has changed a lot in recent years with the hospital expanding further and the main old shadyside hospital now looks abandoned. We were very lucky and were able to get access to the small museum, it still remains very hard to find and access.

Hopefully you will find my blog post with images informative.

I was very intrigued by the family and the note of a single boy D.M Allan aged 9 who apparently was not part of my friends family, was he on his own or was he part of the family who died and thus memories are suppressed.
