[weihsien_camp] Memories of Weihsien broadcast -- rescheduled.

Mary,

The producer just told me that the documentary had been rescheduled to be on air on 24th December. She herself didn't know the changing either until she opened TV 40 minutes ago but saw another program. She immediately contacted CCTV. It turned out that the CCTV coordinator forgot to tell her about the reschedule. She'll double check with them on 23rd, and then tell you again the exact date and time. I'm sorry for your inconvenience if you were trying to watch the program on internet or on TV today.

Xiaochuan

[weihsien_camp] Weihsien internee Paul Thompson [1 Attachment]

You may be interested in this article about Dr Paul Thompson (1931-2007) who was a child in the camp. His older brother (Francis) Brian was killed in an accident in the camp aged 16, there is a detailed report into the accident on weihsien-paintings.org. The four Thompson children were with their mother Ella Wilkinson Thompson, while their father was based in the China Inland Mission's provisional headquarters in Chungking (Chongqing).

I found this article in a digital archive, I was hoping to find contemporary articles about the camp but most if not all English-language newspapers in China ceased publication in the early 1940s, so no luck.

Best wishes,
Michael Rank
